Casting for Recovery was founded on the principles that the natural world is a healing force and that cancer survivors deserve one weekend — free of charge and free of the stresses from medical treatment, home, or workplace — to experience something new and challenging while enjoying beautiful surroundings within an intimate, safe, and nurturing structure.
Their 2 day free weekend retreats incorporate counseling, educational services, and the trained facilitators that staff each retreat, including a psycho-social therapist, a health care professional (e.g. physical therapist, nurse), as well as fly-fishing instructors and river helpers.
L.L. Bean recognized that a Casting for Recovery weekend is about empowerment. Rekreation Marketing and L.L. Bean believe this campaign is a terrific way for L.L. Bean to have communicated and positioned its self as a Brand that continuous to embrace the consumer group they serve.
This year L.L.Bean is offering a nice collection of products stitched with the CFR logo, and will donate $2 of every sale of such products directly to Casting For Recovery. So whether you are a Cancer Survivor, a relative of someone who is, or simply a concerned fly fisherman/woman who would like to support the cause, this is a great way to do your part.

“We are proud to partner with Casting for Recovery on this endeavor. We recognize the unique program this fantastic organization offers to help improve the lives of women dealing with breast cancer,” said Mac McKeever, Senior Public Relations Representative with L.L.Bean. “Our hope is that by featuring CFR in our catalog and on our web site and making a contribution with each purchase, we will help raise awareness about the great service CFR provides to help improve the quality of life for those women recovering from breast cancer treatment.”

L.L.BEAN, INC. has been a trusted source for quality apparel, reliable outdoor equipment, and expert advice for more than 95 years. Founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, the company has grown from a one-man operation to a global organization with annual sales of $1.5 billion. Company headquarters are in Freeport, Maine, just down the road from the original store.
